Depending on which visa you are applying for the process will differ from visa to visa.  We have outlined the most common pathways in Australian Immigration:

General Skilled Migration
If you intend to migrate to Australia on the basis of your skills and work experience then the process will be as follows:

Step 1 - Undertake the International English Test (IELTS) (some foreign nationals are exempt from sitting the exam);

Step 2 - Apply to have your skills assessed (this can be conducted at the same time as the IELTS application;

Step 3 - Prepare all the supporting documentation and application forms (where applicable) for the Consultant to prepare for submisison;

Step 4 - Once the IELTS and skills assessment has been returned and when all the supporting documents have been received, the visa application can
 be lodged.  If the application involves a state government sponsorship then the Sponsorship application needs be applied for before the visa is lodged.

Step 5 - Application is submitted to Immigration and an online tracking number will be emailed to you so you may track the progress of your application and.

Step 6 - Application decision is handed down.
